History of BINHS
With 4,026 students, Biñan Integrated National High School formerly known as BNHS or Biñan National High School, has been spreading its wings in terms of academic and non-academic venture. Over the years, it has shown its fervor in educating the mind and in inculcating values not only to the young ones of Biñan but also to the clienteles from the neighboring towns.
This year, with the leadership and management of Ms. Julie Ann D. Natividad, Principal III, BINHS has been continually brimming with achievements and accomplishments. The most notable feat under her administration is the on-going process of ISO accreditation.
The glory and the gains that BINHS enjoys today, are no less, part of its 29 years of existence. This is how BIHNS has started and developed through the course of time.
Biñan National High School was founded in the year 1990 through the initiative of Dr. Isidro D. Carino who was then the former Secretary of Education. Biñan was the only place in Laguna which had no public school; so, as a gesture of concern for his fellowmen, he sought the help of the then, mayor of Biñan, Bayani Alonte and gave an order to DECS Region IV to lend a hand. The town mayor took almost 1 hectare from Biñan Elementary School and this started of the BNHS construction. It was registered as Biñan National High School as the first public high school ever established in the place.
Mrs. Teresita M. Dela Cruz was sent by the DepEd-Division of Laguna to handle the first batch of students with a total of 215 enrollees. Temporarily, they occupied the part of Binan Elementary Multi-purpose Hall as their first learning hall. The principal of Biñan Elementary School, provided them with another two classrooms.
In 1991-1992, the enrollment of students had increased to 80%. Dr. Dexideria Rex of DECS Region IV ordered the construction of Bagong Lipunan Building while Dr. Pampolina helped provide the chairs. Another two-story building with 8 and 12 classrooms was constructed through the request of Dr. Isidro D. Carino and the cooperation of the elected PTA officers President Conrado Fernandez. It was then named SBEP and PAGCOR building.
The years 1992 to 1994 had brought rapid changes and development to BNHS. Numerous projects and ground development such as shaded pathways and plant boxes were seen. The number of students increased, and 9 teachers were added to its pool of faculty. In 1994-1995, the number of students reached to more than 2000 which resulted to lack of classrooms, books and teachers. Through Dr. Rex of Region IV and Dr. Josefina Roque, the Schools Superintendent, there were successful projects such as additional pathways, installation of function hall, rooms and Science Laboratory.
Come SY 1995-1996, the government officials had responded to the resolution made by the principal and PTA officers. Gov. Joey Lina who was tagged as “Father of Laguna” signed this resolution for a provision of a building with 3 classrooms. Congressman Roy Almoro provided a two-story building with 6 classrooms and named it Almoro Building. In 1996-1997, the school was awarded for two consecutive years as the 1st place - Most Beautiful School and 20TH place Best Library.
Another wish was granted when Gov. Joey Lina furnished the Biñan National High School Gymnasium and through Dr. Maria Manalo, District Supervisor, Congressman Nereo Joaquin donated two-classroom building.
In 1997-1998, many accomplished developments were recorded such as fence, barbed wires, and bigger computer rooms. In the next school year 1998-1999, Hon. Mayor Hermis “Boy Perez, the newly elected town’s head pursued by Board Member Gat Alatiit of the municipality of Binan, employed 11 teachers funded by the school board. Hon. Congresswoman Uliran T. Joaquin granted the Multi-purpose Building requested by the school principal to be used as the administrative office.

In 1999-2000, the new appointed Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Edelmira M. Libas served as one of the institutions who embodied the success of the school. Through the assistance of Mayor Hermis Perez, Board member Alatiit, and District Supervisor, Ms. Romana Espinosa, the school was granted with 16 teachers and the dark streets going to the school site were lighted. The school continued its fame in both academic and sports.
In 2000-2001, after 10 years the school has evolved a lot from its physical condition and population of 255 to 5776 students. The students received different awards such as 2nd in the Slogan and Poster Making Contest held in Cultural Center of Laguna and 3rd place in the poster Making Contest in Sta. Cruz Laguna Function Hall.
In 2001- 2002, Mayor Hermis “Boy “ Perez donated a 2-storey building with classrooms requested by Mrs. Teresita M. Dela Cruz, the School Principal and Ms. Romana Espinosa, District Supervisor. In the celebration of the 56th Binan Liberation Day. BNHS won both 1st place in the Choral and Solo Singing Contest. Ten computers were awarded by the Ayala Foundations, Inc. Twenty computers were also awarded by the Department of Trade and Industry. DTI Secretary Mar Roxas awarded the computers to 20 public high schools and this was conducted at Binan National High School.
In 2002-2003 , A 2-storey building with 6 classrooms named Lazaro building was donated by Gov. Ningning Lazaro.
In 2003-2004, The emergence of Sto. Tomas APEX, and Dela Paz Annex lessened the population of the school which also lessened the burden of the school in terms of classrooms and teachers. The construction of Science Laboratory Building was a project of Congresswoman Uliran Joaquin.
In 2004-2005, the students, teachers, PTA officers, and Brgy. Tanod of Sto. Domingo actively participated in Brigada Eskwela 2004 to support the program of the Department of Education. In 2005-2006, ISUZU Philippines in cooperation of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Dept. of Labor and Employment, Dept. of Education and Philippines Chamber of Commerce donated 1-storey building with 2 classrooms. Gov. Ningning Lazaro donated another 2-storey building with 6 classrooms to be used by the 1st year students. In 2006-2007, the Dept. of Trade and Industry awarded our school 10 units of computer.
The first principal of BNHS was Dr. Teresita M. Dela Cruz from 1990 to 2010. After her death, Mrs. Illustrisimo took charge in managing the school for months. Then, Rogelio Opulencia became the Principal-in-charge for months. Next was, Dr. Maura Umaclap, Principal III for a year. After her retirement, Joel J. Valenzuela took place.
The last year of Mr. Joel J. Valenzuela’s term as a principal in the SY 2016-2017, the Senior High School started its operation. The latter was promoted to PSDS as Biñan gained its independence from the Division of Laguna, and Dr. Nerra A. Visperas assumed the headship as the Teacher-in-charge.

During the term of Dr. Nerra A. Visperas, the proposal for the change of name of the school from Biñan National High School to Biñan Integrated National High School was submitted through the help of Mr. Albert Escuvania, the SHS coordinator. Dr. Visperas was assigned in Nereo Joaquin as a TIC.

From the SY 2017-2018 to present, Ms. Julie Ann D. Natividad has been taking over the school’s administration. The face of the school has changed a lot. Some old buildings were replaced by the newly erected ones. It is also during her supervision when BNHS was approved of its new name, Binan Integrated National High School (BINHS). Journalism flourished as it managed to increase its spots in the Regional level and succeeded to reach the National Level. Researches among teachers and students have become another outstanding achievement of the school. Several student and teacher researches have given the school a name in the regional and national level. Many division-wide and region-wide competitions in academics and non-academics have also been recorded. DRRM is also a major accomplishment and has been acclaimed internationally as one of the school’s best practices. Now, the school is in the middle of its ISO accreditation and minimalism or 5S is in closed observation and monitoring.
BINHS has stood the tests of time and it will remain standing tall in the days to come.
